The material of the bath can be crucial to the look style and feel of the bath when it is being used. There are a number of reasons why you may choose one material over another but it should be carefully considered before selecting your bath.
Acrylic
Acrylic is the most common material you will see for baths, it’s hard-wearing, long-lasting and light making it much easier to install. The material can be easily cleaned meaning no need to worry about staining with oils or bath lotions. The availability of the material makes them a cost-effective way to get the bath of your dreams.
Stone
Natural stone can give your bathroom the real spa treatment but their heavy weight makes them harder to install and need careful consideration of floor strength before installation. With that being said there is no substitute for looks and functionality, the material will keeps its shine and stone will maintain water temperature for much longer making it a perfect choice for long soaks.
Cast iron
Cast iron is a classic material for freestanding baths and can be the perfect choice if it’s more of a classic look you are trying to recreate. They are often handmade so have more of an authentic hand-crafted look but this adds to the charm. The cast iron can be cold at first but once warmed up it will help retain heat in the bath. The major downside of cast iron baths is the weight, so make sure your floor is structurally sound before installing one.
Copper
Another classic material for freestanding baths, it comes with all the benefits of cast iron but at a fraction of the weight. The trade off in weight reduction however comes at a price with copper baths being much more expensive than their cast iron counterparts.
